By building a "highland" for China's equipment to go global through the China Africa Cooperation Project, the optimistic expectation of a rebound in the prosperity of the high-end equipment manufacturing industry has suddenly heated up. Several industry insiders have stated that the export of high-end equipment is an important chess piece in China's economic strategic transformation layout, and related companies are expected to accelerate their entry into the world system after technological advancements.

 

There are signs of a rebound now

The fields covered by high-end equipment manufacturing mainly include aviation equipment, satellite and its application industry, rail transit equipment, marine engineering equipment, intelligent manufacturing equipment, etc. The development of China's strategic emerging industries cannot be separated from the rapid development of equipment manufacturing industry.

Since the beginning of this year, the equipment manufacturing industry has shown signs of recovery. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the added value of equipment manufacturing industry increased by 11.8% in the first quarter, accelerating by 2.8 percentage points year-on-year. The China Economic Equipment Manufacturing Industry Prosperity Index also shows a significant increase in the growth rate of business revenue and total profit of equipment manufacturing owners in the first quarter.

With the recovery of the industry, related companies have received good news one after another. In March of this year, China General Nuclear Power (CGN) signed a cooperation agreement with Electricit é de France (EDF). CGN will participate in the development and construction of a new nuclear power project planned by EDF in the UK through equity participation. The two sides will jointly promote the development of a new nuclear power project in the UK led by CGN, which will be controlled by a Chinese nuclear power enterprise.

 

Joining forces to upgrade

Industry experts point out that new competitive advantages are emerging in China's equipment manufacturing industry, but the challenges it faces are becoming increasingly severe. The low-cost advantage of "Made in China" is gradually weakening, and the competition in the global industrial high ground is becoming increasingly fierce. Accelerating the cultivation and consolidation of new advantages with technology, brand, quality, and service as the core competitiveness is the only way for Chinese equipment manufacturing enterprises to truly go global.

Regarding the issue of how to quickly achieve high-end technology, most Chinese companies have chosen to cooperate with international large enterprises. As early as 2013, China XD Electric established a strategic alliance with General Electric to establish a joint venture in China for the automation of transmission and distribution secondary equipment, controlled by China XD Electric. The joint venture aims to fully introduce GE's mature products and advanced technologies in the field of secondary equipment, and further develop products and technologies that meet the needs of the Chinese market. The establishment of this company will be beneficial for China Xidian to have the R&D and production capabilities for producing secondary equipment in the short term, accelerating the achievement of China Xidian's development goals of becoming a complete supplier of primary and secondary equipment and a provider of overall system solutions.

There are also enterprises that accelerate the high-end development of technology through independent research and development. Zoomlion has launched its first independently manufactured M-tec MS220V dry mixing mixer, which is a new generation of high-performance dry mixing equipment that achieves high efficiency, energy saving, innovation and environmental protection.

The industry expects that with the improvement of domestic enterprise technology and the external promotion of government departments, the prosperity of high-end equipment manufacturing industry will continue to rebound, which is worth looking forward to.
